Retreats Home Catholic Mission Retreats

Each year Cathedral Catholic High School holds retreats for each of the four classes.

Freshmen

The freshman retreat theme, “Let My Gifts Change the World” (the first line of Cathedral Catholic’s Community Prayer), is based on the following passage in Matthew's Gospel:

  • Student campus ministers lead this retreat, which is held on-campus and during the school day.

You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. (Mt. 5:11-12)

Sophomores

The sophomore retreat theme is “Live The Call” (the second line of the school’s Community Prayer).

  • Students discover how God calls them to be in relationship with Him, others and the world. The retreat focuses on serving others.
  • Campus Ministry classes lead this retreat, which is held on-campus and during the school day.

I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Eph. 4:1-6)
Nevertheless, each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called them. (1 Cor. 7:17
Faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. (Jas. 2:17
Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me. (Mt. 25:45)

Juniors

Juniors are invited to attend a themed retreat titled, “Build the Kingdom” (the third line of the school’s Community Prayer).

  • The retreat focuses on how students can realize God’s Kingdom in their lives now and build God’s Kingdom through their actions by following the school’s four core values of character, faith, knowledge and responsibility.
  • Students and school staff lead this retreat, which is held off-campus and lasts three days and two nights.
Seniors

Seniors are invited to attend a Kairos retreat. The Kairos retreat is a profound experience of God’s immeasurable love.

  • On the retreat, seniors discover the grace of the Holy Spirit’s presence in their lives through family, friends and community.
  • Students and school staff lead the retreat, which is held off-campus and lasts three days and two nights.
